To streamline and optimize the way users access their favorite information and applications, it would be useful to provide every user with a page where he/she can find the applications and information that he wants.
To solve this issue, GXportal has a feature called My Portal, which is rather unknown but very useful. It makes it possible for every user to customize those pages that the designer has enabled to be customized. This allows every user to easily view exactly what he needs and is interested in.
What can be customized by users?
Users can change the regions of pages enabled for customization, where they can move GXportlets, add new ones and delete existing ones.
How can users add a new GXportlet to the page?
Users can add only GXportlets that have been pre-designed by the portal designer. From GXportal they are designed as Web Components and every user can add the GXportlets grouped and enabled for his Role.
Web Component Groups are a way to simplify the search for GXportlets when there are many of them. A Web Component must be at least in one Group to be used by a portal user.
How many pages can a user customize?
Users can customize all the portal pages enabled for that purpose.
Can every user view his own homepage upon logging in to the portal?
Yes, it's possible. Any page that can be customized can also be the user's homepage, so that every time the user logs in, he is redirected to the page he has selected.
