To solve this, we have included in GXportal the use of Web Fonts (also known as @font-face), which will enable us to use any font in our site.
Web Fonts allow for the design of more attractive sites without having to sacrifice maintenance or indexing, since it is not necessary to create images with text to obtain the designs in the different sections of the site, like, for instance, in the case of menus or contents.
How to use GXportal
In “Design->Fonts” we can define the fonts we will be using in the site. Apart from the known local fonts, we can define “Web Fonts” or “Google Web Fonts”.
Web Fonts: in this case we must provide the files for the font we want to apply. Generally, it will be enough by including the font in .woff and .eot format for it to appear in any PC server of those currently used. If we also want it to appear in iPad/iPhone we will have to include the .svg format.
There are several sites from where we can download free fonts, like Font Squirrel
Google Web Fonts
offers a great library of fonts we can apply to our sites. In this case there is the advantage of not having to worry about obtaining the font’s files. By simply selecting a font from the list and going to its “Quick use” option, we can then copy the ‘Standard’ code appearing in Step 3.
Once we have defined a font, we can apply it to any component in GXportal or even in the contents text as shown below:
