Common errors when installing GXportal 5.0

  • Server error in '/gxportal50' application.

A session status request cannot be made to the session status server. Check that the ASP.NET status service has been started and that the client and server ports match. If the server is located in a remote machine, check the value of  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\aspnet_state\Parameters\AllowRemoteConnection to make sure that it accepts more requests. If the server is located in the local machine and the above record value doesn't exist or is set to 0, the connection string of the status server must use 'localhost' or '127.0.0.1' as server name.

Solution
Support for ASP.NET must be installed (below is an image that shows this in Windows 2008 Server Manager), and the ASP.NET State Service must be running.  This applies to Windows 2008 Server 32 bits and 64 bits.

In Windows

NOTE: If you don’t have the service installed, follow the steps indicated here.

"...In the Add or remove programs, click on Add or remove Windows components..."

The image below shows where this service is located:

NOTE: If the service is installed and you still can’t see it in the list of services, it may be due to this Microsoft bug: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911720
(compatibility issue in 64-bit machines).
