How to add users to my site

There are two ways to add users to the site: from the users module in the backend, or from the online site through the Registration Form GXportlet. In general, users with backend roles for site maintenance are created from the backend, and users who will access the site register themselves from the online site.

From the backend

This is done from Configuration – Users, as shown in the following image.

Also, by entering with the administrator user (GXPADMIN) to Sites Management, it is possible to create new users. When a new user is created, it is automatically assigned the Web Administrator role. If the roles are to be removed later, all we have to do is apply the option Remove backend roles.

As of version 5.1, there is the possibility of adding user groups exported from another portal, or from another system’s database.

Note: To assign a backend role to a user, we need to have enough user licenses assigned to the site.

From the online site

To enable users to register from the site we need to place the Registration Form GXportlet in a page.

Then, we must define where this page will be accessed from:
  • A Text GXportlet may be used, for example, with the text: "Register", or an Image GXportlet. The GXportlet used will have a link to the page where the user will be registered.
  • A link for registration may be enabled from the GXportlet “Web user sign in”. In such case, we should show this option in the group of properties "Register", and assign –in the "Page" property- a link to the page where the user will register, as shown in the image below:
