What design elements should the designer give me to build my website?

The objective of this document is listing the elements to be required from a graphic designer or design agency/studio to present the graphic design defined for the web site to be created using GXportal. This is the suggested list of elements to be required from the graphic designer. Some other elements may be also required.

  • Bases of the site design sketches presented. They should be preferably presented in HTML format; otherwise, they may be presented as images (real size JPG).
  • The images used in these bases must be cut with the exact final measures to be used later and in the best possible format according to the case. We recommend using GIF, JPG and PNG. Avoid other type of formats.
  • Animated files such as Flash movies or other multimedia elements (audio or video) that have been defined for the design, always optimized for web.
  • Images used as buttons, icons and charts in general.
  • Typeface to be used.
  • Definition of the colors to be used in the design, either in hexadecimal color definition or in RGB scale (Red, Green, Blue).
  • Dimensions of pages most important regions such as height and width of header, footer and columns.
  • Dimensions of the main pages components (in pixels).
  • Separation distances between different components (in pixels).
There follows an example of how the designer may present much of the information required for the design, as a complement of what was previously presented.
