Working with styles of GXportlets

While designing a site in GXportal, we often want to repeat the aesthetics of a GXportlet in others of the same type. For instance, we may want several of the content GXportlets to appear with the same design when their headers are presented along with the main image and the content summary.

To solve this we offer the possibility of defining styles for each type of GXportlet so that when something is changed in the style definition, then all GXportlets using it will automatically reflect the changes.

The option to work with styles is in the main menu in the Design group.

In each of the groups of GXportlets presented we have the GXportlets belonging to the group, and for each GXportlet all styles defined. Each GXportlet will initially have a defined style that is determined in advance, and in some cases they will have another style, compatible with previous versions of GXportal.

In this interface, we can create new styles, modify existing styles, delete styles, copy or define them as predetermined for the corresponding GXportlet.

Creating a new style

To create a new style we select the GXportlet type from the tree, that is, the node from which styles are defined. Positioned there we press the New button to open a screen where we will be requested to provide the style name and then we will be able to set the properties for it.

Editing a style

To edit a style we must modify the properties on the right, in the same way we do for GXportlets in pages. These properties are inherited in each instance where the style is applied, except when the user sets something different in the instance itself. This means that the properties configured in the GXportlet that is inside a page will precede those defined in the style.
The properties that may not be defined in styles are those that instance a specific element (content to be shown, a set of images to be shown, etc.)

Defining a style as predetermined

To define a style as predetermined we must select the style from the list and click on the Predetermined button on the tool bar.Every time that a GXportlet is added to a page, initially it will use the aesthetics defined in the predetermined style.

Assigning styles to GXportlets

Styles are assigned to instances of GXportlets from the designed, in the Style property.
